Notes About The Show:
– Penny Cash was the ring announcer for the event, and Jillian Beyor acted as timekeeper.
– The announce team of Leroy Morgan (play by play) & Derrick Bateman (heel color commentator) were given a tryout as they look to replace Byron Saxton who has moved up to ECW.
– Jimmy Uso returned to FCW tonight following his bereavement leave. I noticed a subtle tribute to his late Uncle Eddie (Umaga). For the first time in FCW, he had his right hand taped up like Umaga’s Samoan Spike. He didn’t use it, but it was there.
– It appears the Sweet Papi Sanchez character is done for Jose Torres. He returned as his original “Black Pain” persona this week winning a squash over Johnny Prime.
– Darren Young of the South Beach Boys was the special referee for the “Lumber-Jill” Match. The “Lumber-Jills” were A.J. Lee, Aksana, Courtney Taylor, Naomi Night, Liviana, & Alicia Fox. During and following the match the Divas outside brawled multiple times, keeping the crowd at a fever pitch. The Queen of FCW, Mia Mancini, joined the announce team during this match.
– In a pretty funny wrestling blooper moment, Tyler Reks, when cheerleading for Alberto Banderas from the corner, called him Antonio & Tony during the entire match. Another note about this match was that the ending involved heavy chair use, which is extremely rare in FCW as they are staying as PG rated as all other WWE programming.
– Injured FCW champ Justin Angel cut a strong promo putting over former FCW champions, WWE champ Sheamus & Intercontinental champ Drew McIntyre, as shining examples of the path FCW provides. Angel also acknowledged and thanked the weekly regular fans who line up at the building early in the afternoon to greet the wrestlers and get the best seats and cheer him on week in and week out. He said the fans serve as his inspiration to make it to the top just like his aforementioned FCW predecessors. His promo was suddenly interrupted by Abraham Washington, who stated that the Angel should be thanking him, not the fans, for giving him the title shot. He also said the fans should thank him for being the “greatest general manager of all time”. He then told Angel that “If you need something done right, you’ve got to do it yourself”. He then challenged Justin Angel to an FCW title in 2010. Angel offered to wrestle him right then, but Washington stated the match will on his terms, not Angel’s.
– Some great comedy by the always entertaining “Dudebusters”… Towards the end of the match, Curt Hawkins was laid out on the floor in front the timekeeper’s table. He stole the pump from Jillian Beyor’s left foot, held it for a while, then passed it off to Caylen Croft who fondled, caressed, and deep inhaled from it.
– The finish of the main event was a great spot as Alex Riley was attempting to superplex Kaval, Tatsu kicked Riley in back of the head, sending Riley into Kaval, who fell from the top turnbuckle perfectly into the “Tree Of Woe” position. Tatsu scored the quick pin on Riley as Kaval hung upside down helpless in the corner. After the match Kaval & Yoshi shook hands and embraced.
– Noticeably absent from the show were Eli Cottonwood & Eric Escobar, and the injured Percy Watson & Wes Brisco.
– FCW returns to the FCW Arena on January 7, 2010, and the FCW 2010 Tour starts in Eustis, FL on January 9, 2010
– FCWWrestling.com notes: Byron Saxton was removed the FCW roster this week confirming his full time promotion to ECW, and Dylan Klein (John Elliot) was also taken off the FCW roster. I can only assume he has been released by the WWE, but that hasnt yet been confirmed. Curt Hawkins has yet to be added to the online roster despite being with FCW full time for several months and currently co-holding the FCW tag team title within the “Dudebusters” trifecta.
